Candy was a faculty member at the Desert Sun School / TEPPS from 1975 to 1987. She is married to former faculty member William Howe. She recently sent in this update: Since Bill and I left DSS/TEPPS in 1987, I have been employed about half time with Mrs. Phoebe Hearst Cooke, a woman who has ranches and horses in Woodside, Paso Robles, and San Simeon, CA. I helped Mrs. Cooke with the Hippotherapy program (i.e., riding for people with various disabilities) for several years, though more recently I've been helping with the vaulting program (i.e., a bit like gymnastics on the back of a horse), caring for the horses and the grounds, and just doing whatever Mrs. Cooke requires. In addition, Mrs. Cooke sends me overseas once or twice a year to supervise vaulting competitions. I've been to most of the European countries, as well as to Argentina, in that capacity. Bill and I live a block away from the University of California at San Diego -- tons of shopping and just a short jaunt to La Jolla Shores beach. We think it's heaven. I miss the mountain, the DeAnza rides, Don, and all those students who were part of the riding program at the school. Best wishes to all! ![]() Last Updated: 06/24/01 |
